Celebrating the Rites of Welcoming and Acceptance
Next weekend is of great importance to all of us at Holy Name Parish, as we are asked to welcome, support and pray for members of our RCIA Program who will be celebrating their first Rites.
The baptized Catholics who wish to complete their initiation into the full sacramental life of the church, and the baptized but uncatechized adults who wish to be received into full communion of the Catholic Church, will be celebrating the rite of welcoming candidates for the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist on Saturday, November 29th, 2008 at the 5:15pm mass.
The unbaptized adults who wish to celebrate the sacraments of initiation will assemble publicly for the first time to declare their intention to the church. The church in turn will accept them as persons who intend to become its members. This is called the Rite of Acceptance into The Order of Catechumens and will be celebrated on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the 10:00am mass.
Please welcome and pray for them as they journey.

PRAYER

Before the Meal
Come, Lord Jesus! Come quickly!

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation,
in the darkness and in the light.

Blessed are you
in this food and in our sharing.

Blessed are you
as we wait in joyful hope
for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

For the kingdom, the power and the glory
are yours, now and forever.

After the Meal
The eyes of all creatures
look with hope to you, O Lord.

And you give them their food in due season.

Holy Name Parish will be hosting a New Year’s Family Dance this year. We will be featuring a live band for entertainment and dancing. Please mark your calendars. More information will follow.

CHRISTMAS – A TIME FOR GIVING

The Holy Name St. Vincent de Paul Society invites each parishioner to contribute some canned food for our Christmas hampers. Let’s share our abundance with the less fortunate in our parish community. If you would like to sponsor an individual family, please phone Holy Name St. Vincent de Paul at 416-469-0842 and leave a message. Please make a contribution to St. Vincent de Paul Society so we can help others in your behalf.

TOYS FOR NEEDY CHILDREN

Once again we are asking parishioners to donate a new toy for needy children at Christmas. Pick up a dove from the Giving tree. The dove will indicate the age and sex of a child. Return the unwrapped gift for that child to the tree by Sunday, December 7th. Thank you.
