Mrs. Katherine Woodley
The late Mrs. Katherine Woodley was born and brought up in the city of Toronto, where she died April, 1921. After a girlhood lived amid the simple joys and generous friendships of “cabbage town”, the home of municipal leaders in this city, Katherine Daley became the wife of John Woodley.
The course of her married life was shaped in the pitying mould of tragedy. She buried her family of three sons in middle life and was left a widow nine years previous to her death. Her evening of life though sombre and austere, was calm and peace-loving as when the breezes are hushed at the approach of night.
After an illness of some months, she happily finished her days among old friends whom
she loved to the last with the unchanging beat of a constant heart. Weary of life, which brought her so many bereavements, she welcomed death as Abraham greeted the visiting angels in the vale of Mambre.
In grateful recollection for a favor done her by the Rev. M. Cline, after the death of her eldest son, Patrick, she bequeathed her estate of $7,843.69 to HolyNameChurch. For this noble benefaction her memory in Holy Name parish will long remain a precious inheritance.
