Development & Peace Coffee Sunday

Development & Peace will once again be selling fair trade coffee, tea and chocolate in the Parish Hall on the fourth Sunday of each month, after the 10 a.m. Mass.  Starting October 27th we will also be selling high quality olive oil and soap from the Zatoun, a fair-trade producer in Palestine.  Foreign sales if these products are vital  to the Palestinian economy given the constraints imposed by the political situation.  For more information about Zatoun, please visit zatoun.com and drop by the D & P tables in the Parish hall on October 27th.

Holy Name Choir

Holy Name Choir is looking for new members!  Our Music Director, Sarah Matte, is formally trained and provides a learning atmosphere of fun and team spirit for those wishing to hone their vocal skills.

Rehearsals are in the church on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm.  The choir sings on Sunday at the 10 am Mass.

If you enjoy singing and can carry a tune, we ask you to consider joining the Music Ministry,.  Although reading music is an asset, it is not a requirement.

Call the rectory - 416-466-8281 or see Sarah after Mass.

Children's Liturgy Program

Volunteers Needed for both Groups

Due to the retirement of some of our volunteer teachers and helpers from last year, the Children's Liturgy Program is looking for a few new volunteers to help us with our program.

Our Children's Program for the older children, ages 7-11 (at the Sunday 10 am Mass), needs one adult  volunteer to act as a helper at our Sunday session, approximately once every 4 weeks.  This does not require any advance preparation, it simply involves being able to help during the session, and with the cleanup afterwards.

Our Children's Program for the younger children, ages 3-6, currently has 4 teachers who plan and conduct the sessions, together with some parent helpers and some teenage helpers.  We are appealing for one more parishioner to step forward to join us as a teacher for this group, so that we can give some of our regular volunteers a bit more assistance and occasionally a bit of a break when they need it .  Anyone volunteering tot his position can observe and assist with our current teachers until he or she feels comfortable leading the sessions.

Please contact the parish office or Tom Broadhurst if you are interested responding to either of these requests (the Archdiocese of Toronto does require a volunteer screening for those working with children - this screening process is conducted by the parish).

Remembering Our Loved Ones

In the autumn of each year the hearts and minds of people all over the world turn to remembrance. In our churches we too turn in a special way to remember all those with whom we remain united in prayer and in hope even beyond the grave.  We celebrate feasts to remember all the saints in glory and all the saints who have journeyed beyond our reach in death and in the sure hope of the resurrection.

Holy Name Parish community has always welcomed this remembrance in a special way and we do so again this year.  It is the special privilege of Holy Name Parish community to remember deceased family members and friends in the Eucharist celebrations we enjoy throughout the month of November.

We invite you to list in our Book of Remembrance the names of those whom you would like remembered in our parish liturgies during the coming weeks.  The Book of Remembrance is placed on the altar and is commended to the prayer of all who join us for Mass.  All Souls Day Envelopes will be available at the entrance of the church in which you can list the names that you would like to be remembered in our parish liturgies along with an offering for Masses.  You may drop this envelope into the collection basket during the Masses.

Fundraising for the Parish

Cash for Cartridges is an innovative recycling program which pays our church for recycling empty inkjet cartridges.

Do you use Canon, HP or Lexmark Cartridges for your computer printer?

If so, please bring in your empty cartridges to the parish and place in the box at the entrance of the church.   Thank you.
