Welcome to Holy Name

Thank you for worshipping with us today.  Please visit our website www.holynametoronto.com for more detailed information on the parish and our faith.

From the Top

Even if it is not always easy to approach young people, progress has been made in two areas: the awareness that the entire community is called to evangelize and educate the young, and the urgent need for the young to exercise greater leadership.

. . . . Wherever there is life, fervor and a desire to bring Christ to others, genuine vocations will arise.

As I mentioned, I have not sought to offer a complete diagnosis, but I invite communities to complete and enrich these perspectives on the basis of their awareness of the challenges facing them and their neighbours.  It is my hope that, in doing so, they will realize that whenever we attempt to read the signs of the times it is helpful to listen to young people and the elderly.  Both represent a source of hope for every people. The elderly bring with them memory and the wisdom of experience, which warns us not to foolishly repeat our past mistakes.  Young people call us to renewed and expansive hope, for they represent new directions for humanity and open us up to the future, lest we cling to a nostalgia for structures and customs which are no longer life-giving in today’s world.

Challenges exist to be overcome!  Let us be realists, but without losing our joy, our boldness and our hope-filled commitment.  Let us not allow ourselves to be robbed of missionary vigor!

Children's Program

Ending for the Summer

Today is the final Sunday for the 2013-14 cycle of the Children’s Liturgy Program at the 10 am Mass.

The Parish extends thanks to the volunteer coordinators, the adult teachers and helpers who served the parish with dedication this year in this ministry to the children of Holy Name.

In a special way, we want to thank our student helpers, volunteering mostly with the younger children.  We have had a very dedicated and faithful group of student helpers this year: showing up early to set up the room, staying late to clean the classroom, and working very well with the children.  A big thank you to Dana & Sydney, Mary, Adriano, Stephan, Charlie, Liam and Aedan.

The Children’s Liturgy Program will resume near the end of September 2014.
