EXTRAORDINARY JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY

I invite you to reflect on the message of Pope Francis as he inaugurates the Jubilee Year of mercy. Announcing the Jubilee Year of Mercy Pope Francis said:

“Dear brothers and sisters, I have often thought of how the Church may render more clear her mission to be a witness to mercy; and we have to make this journey. It is a journey which begins with spiritual conversion. Therefore, I have decided to announce an Extraordinary Jubilee which has at its centre the mercy of God. It will be a Holy Year of Mercy.

Do not forget that God forgives all, and God forgives always. Let us never tire of asking forgiveness. Let us henceforth entrust this Year to the Mother of Mercy, that she turn her gaze upon us and watch over our journey: our penitential journey, our year-long journey with an open heart, to receive the indulgence of God, to receive the mercy of God.”

Calling all Carolers

On Friday, December 18th meet in the church basement (time will be forthcoming) to do some serious Christmas Caroling.

We’ll be strolling the Danforth, Visiting Nisbet Lodge and McClintock Manor, visiting the homes of a few members of the Holy Name Communtiy who aren’t able to join us and generally spreading the joy of the season.

Hot chocolate, coffee and tea provided back at the church after caroling.  Please bring a bag of cookies if you can!

GIVING TREE

Each year The Society of St Vincent De Paul, Holy Name asks you to support our Giving Tree. This is about taking a dove and buying a toy or gift for needy children in our community.  Please bring in your unwrapped gift by December 11th to the parish hall as St. Vincent de Paul members will be there to receive them.  Please enter by south east door.

Along with the doves, we are offering you the opportunity to give a gift donation in the name of your friends, family and colleagues. This is a gift that 100% supports the less fortunate of our community and helps St Vincent de Paul continue our work of helping those in need. Please consider taking a gift card package from the Giving Tree and give a gift that gives back.

We are also looking for parishioners to sponsor families at Christmas time. Let’s share our abundance with the less fortunate in our parish community. Please phone Holy Name St. Vincent de Paul at 416-469-0842 and leave a message. Thank you.
