Mass in a Moment

By Margaret Bick

The Eucharistic Prayer Pt. II

The eucharistic meal is a sacrificial meal, a meal that is both sacred and sanctifying.

In His words over the bread and wine of the Last Supper, which we recall during the eucharistic prayer, Christ eternally bound the Christian eucharistic meal to His sacrificial outpouring of his life for the life of the world.

In the celebration of the Eucharist, Christ unites our sacrifice of praise with is sacrifice on the cross.  At the same time we proclaim and celebrate the eternal covenant that God established in the Blood of Christ himelf.

“Lord, look upon this sacrifice which you have given to your Church: and by your Holy Spirit, gather all who share this one bread and cup into the one body of Christ, a living sacrifice of praise.”

CHILDREN’S PROGRAM

Ending for the Summer

PLEASE NOTE:  To honour of Fr. Andrew’s final Sunday on June 28th, the Children’s Program will be extended by 1 extra week, to end on June 28th at 11 am instead of June 21st.

The Parish extends thanks to the volunteer coordinators, the adult teachers and helpers who served the parish with dedication this year in this ministry to the children of Holy Name.

In a special way, we want to thank our student helpers, volunteering mostly with the younger children.  We have had a very dedicated and faithful group of student helpers this year: showing up early to set up the room, staying late to clean the classroom, and working very well with the children.  A big thank you to Dana & Sydney, Mary, Adriano, Stephan, Charlie & Ian, Liam and Aedan.

The Children’s Liturgy Program will resume near the end of September 2015.

happy father's day

CHANGE OF PASTOR

As was announced Fr. Andrew, our pastor, has been reassigned.  He will become superior of the Holy Cross Retirement Home for Priests in Welland, Ontario.  Believe it or not he has been pastor at Holy Name now for 10 years.  Fr. Jinto, whom many of you know, will become the new pastor of our parish. This move will take effect June 30th.  It is with sadness that we see him leave but we wish Fr. Andrew well in his new ministry to priests.

CHANGE OF MASS TIME

Next Sunday, June 28th, Mass will begin at 11 a.m.  This is Father Andrew’s last Sunday as pastor here at Holy Name.  We hope you’ll be able to join us downstairs after mass as we celebrate his ten years in our parish.  We’re asking parishioners to bring snacks and “finger foods” for this event.

Just a reminder that there are envelopes in the pews if you would like to contribute to a gift for Father Andrew.   Also, there is a book at the back of the church for well wishers to sign.
