Mass in a Moment

By Margaret Bick

 The Dismissal

We do not simply leave the celebration of the Eucharist; we are sent forth.

Although the eucharistic table is the source, summit and centre of our lives, we cannot live our whole lives there.  “Go,” we are told.  “Go in peace.”

Our communion with Christ and with one another demands that our share life be lived in peace.  We cannot be a sign of the kingdom of God for all the world to see, if we do not live the peace we preach.

Parking lot problems, encounters at parish meetings, community controversies may tempt us toward other behavior; but the God who binds our lives together with Christ’s and who dwells within us as in a temple says, “Go in peace.”

May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus.

 Mission Appeals

On behalf of Missionaries of Africa – White Fathers, Father Marc Angers will conduct the Mission Appeals at Holy Name Parish the weekend of August 1-2, 2015.  The Society of the Missionaries of Africa (also called White Fathers) Father Angers did his ministry in Tanzania (20 years) and South Africa (17 years) and now in Toronto.  Missionaries of Africa are working in 25 African countries and though our number is decreasing, because of the new vocations coming from Africa, India, Poland, Mexico, the Philippines, they are continuing their ministry in Africa trying to encounter the African people and also trying their best to improve relations with the Muslims.

In order to best serve the individual needs of inquirers, RCIA is in need of many women and men who would like to share their faith journey.

Each person will sponsor one of our inquirers.  Please call the rectory to have a member of the RCIA contact you to answer any questions.

This is a wonderful work of evangelization and is a very rewarding experience for all of us.  If you are interested please call the parish office at 416-466-8281.
